Dr. John Patience
John's early career saw him employed in extension as a swine specialist and later in the feed industry as head nutritionist. However, the bulk of his career has involved research as well as management of a research organization.
He served as Director of the University of Saskatchewan's Prairie Swine Centre, which was later restructured as a non-profit corporation involved in research and extension for the pig industry. John served as its first President and CEO.

Dr. Dan Columbus
Dr. Daniel Columbus is a Research Scientist of Nutrition at Prairie Swine Centre and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Columbus completed his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from the University of Guelph in 2004, 2008, and 2012, respectively. He then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine. He joined the Prairie Swine Centre in 2015 and became Research Scientist in 2016. Dr. Columbus’ research focuses on the interaction of nutrition and health and nutrient utilization in swine. He has published 29 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 70 conference abstracts, and 19 industry publications and has given 23 presentations and interviews. He was the 2019 recipient of the Canadian Society of Animal Science Young Scientist Award.
Meet the founder

Dr. Marcio Goncalves
Dr. Marcio Goncalves earned his veterinary degree from UFRGS, a top university in Brazil, and his PhD in applied swine nutrition from Kansas State University and worked as Global Nutritionist for one of the major swine genetic companies where he led nutrient requirement updates, diet formulation & feeding program for nucleus farms, development of nutritional economic models, and reviewing diets from over 100 customers. Currently, he is the founder of Wisenetix, the largest network of podcasts in the agriculture industry.
He has over 15 years of experience in swine production with exposure to over 20 countries and 120 research studies in pig nutrition/production and his life purpose is to create a positive impact in the world through knowledge dissemination in the global ag industry.
